Warwick University and surrounding areas
Highlights are individually painted onto your hair using bleach, or a colour that is lighter than your base colour, to lighten your hair. These painted sections are wrapped in foil to help the hair colour develop. There are different levels of coverage for highlights, and what you ask for depends on how dramatic or subtle you want your lightened hair colour to be.
If you want a full coverage hair colour, then you should ask for a full head of highlights (as seen below). For a more subtle colour that covers the top and sides of your hair, then ask for a half head of highlights. For a hair colour that is in-between these two options, ask for a three-quarter head of highlights as this will cover the top, sides and crown of your hair.
Bleach is used to lighten your hair, but this does not mean your hair will lift to white blonde straight away. If your hair is already light then you may be able to achieve this, however, if you have very dark hair then it is likely that your hair will need to be bleached more than once to achieve the blonde hair colour that you desire. To remove any brassy tones, our colourists may also apply a toner to your hair after bleaching.
Balayage & Ombré
Many people get the balayage and ombré hair techniques mixed up, which is why we’re here to note the noticeable distinctions between the two. Balayage is used to create a sun-kissed look as our expert colourists will hand-paint highlights through your hair to mimic where the sun would naturally lighten your hair. Whereas, ombré creates an all over gradient from dark at the roots to lighter at the tips. Balayage is particularly popular at the moment as it is one of the top hair colour trends. Both ombré and balayage can be done in a variety of colours from natural hair colours to fun, fashion hair colours. Take a look at this beautiful caramel balayage we created on our client below.
Semi-Permanent Hair Colour
Semi-permanent hair colour is perfect for those who are new to hair colour as it means you can try without the commitment as semi-permanent colour washes out after eight weeks and fades with each wash. Whether you want to try a fashion hair colour like purple or pink, or you want to enhance your natural hair colour, we can do it all at Suzanne’s Hair & Beauty Salon in Coventry.
It’s important to remember that results will vary depending on how light or dark your hair is. If your hair is light then the hair colour you choose will show up more vividly than on darker hair. But don’t worry, our skilled colourists will explain how vibrant the semi-permanent hair colour will show up on your hair.
